Modern spinal imaging for personalised chiropractic care

At Thrive Chiropractic, we are licensed to take spinal x-rays on site when clinically appropriate. X-rays may help provide additional information about the structure and alignment of the spine and can assist with assessment, clinical decision-making and care planning.
X-rays are not routinely required for every patient and are only recommended on a case-by-case basis depending on your symptoms, history, age and clinical findings. Young children and pregnant women are not x-rayed at Thrive Chiropractic.

When spinal x-rays may be recommended

In some situations, spinal imaging may help provide a clearer understanding of what is happening within the spine and surrounding structures. This may help support:
  • More accurate assessment
  • Safer clinical decision-making
  • Individualised care planning
  • Monitoring of structural or postural changes where appropriate
We can image the upper, middle or lower spine, or the full spine.
Our team of experienced local chiropractors is dedicated to providing gentle and effective chiropractic treatment and care. To see a chiropractor near you on the Kapiti Coast, contact us today to discuss a chiropractic treatment that will work, no matter what your age and stage in life.

Technology supporting hands-on care

Modern x-ray technology uses carefully controlled low-dose imaging and is used thoughtfully and conservatively as part of the assessment process. Any recommendation for imaging is based on clinical judgement and whether the information is likely to assist with your care. Spinal imaging is only one part of the assessment process. X-rays do not replace clinical experience, hands-on examination or discussions about your symptoms and health history.

Spinal x-rays are sometimes recommended when additional information may help with assessment or care planning. This can include evaluating posture, spinal alignment, arthritic or degenerative changes, previous injuries or other structural considerations. X-rays are only used when clinically appropriate and are not required for every patient.

X-rays may help identify structural and postural changes within the spine, including curvature changes, degenerative wear, joint spacing, previous injuries or other conditions that may influence how chiropractic care is approached. The findings are considered alongside your symptoms, examination and health history.

Yes, in many cases it can. Adults often have age-related spinal changes visible on x-rays, particularly as they get older. Chiropractic care may still help support movement, flexibility, mobility and comfort, although care is always adapted to the individual and their overall health considerations.

If imaging identifies something requiring further investigation or medical management, we may refer you to your GP or another healthcare provider for additional assessment or imaging where appropriate.
