Be the best you can be
Health has many facets
Keeping healthy is not just a case of feeling good - it is an ongoing ever changing challenge to keep the human body functioning at it's best. As part of a commitment to ensuring your own chiropractic health for life there may be lifestyle changes you personally may like to make. Commonly most people want to develop better exercise and eating habits, below are some key points covering both:
Exercise
The New Zealand Chiropractors Association in alliance with Life University (USA), has developed the Straighten Up New Zealand program. Initially designed for children the program has been adapted for adults.
In a study conducted in the USA 83% of people using the Straighten Up program daily reported an improvement in posture and 78% reported a strengthening in core musculature.
The Straighten Up program is downloadable here: Straighten Up Adults Straighten Up Kids
The Straighten Up program is not a substitute for athletic advice but is a generic healthy lifestyle program.
For specific exercise prescription or advice ask your chiropractor as we have a network of highly skilled trainers that we can recommend to help you reach your goals.
Nutrition
Nutrition is an essential part of attaining and maintaining health.
At Thrive Chiropractic we have worked extensively with Andy Dickson. Andy is a researcher and men's health advocate who has a very realistic perspective on nutrition and eating habits. He himself was once morbidly obese and after turning his life around has started a PhD on eating habits.
Andy's interests focus mainly on the eating habits of men and obesity. However he can design and advise on healthy eating and nutrition for anyone wanting to make an improvement in their lifestyle.
Andy can be contacted through his website www.andyrunning.co.nz or a formal referral can be made by asking your chiropractor.
